Thanksgiving Thoughts

Have you ever thought about why we celebrate Thanksgiving?

If you would stop and realize, everything we have belongs to God. We are only stewards of it. He trusts you to take care of and use wisely whatever He has loaned you!  This is an awesome concept!  God trusting us.

We are told in His Word, that we are to be thankful no matter what is happening in our lives or whatever our lot is in life. Especially when we are going through trials and tribulations!!  How does one thank God when He allows Satan to run roughshod in our lives and in our country?

The answer is simple.  As Christians we cannot grow in our faith and trust of him, thus growing closer to Him, unless we are refined like precious metals in the fire.  Also, as children of God, He must correct us once in a while to keep us on track and keep Him number one in our lives. Without God, we are nothing but depraved animals running amok and doing whatever feels good to us individually.  Because of His love for us, we put our own welfare last, behind the needs of others. This is the way it should be. The two greatest commandments of God are:  1- Love your God with all your heart, mind and soul!  2- Love your neighbor as you love yourself!  I see no hate talk here-How about you?

God has given us life, and everything we have around us. He is a loving God-- His son Jesus died on the cross and took the punishment for all of our sins that we have committed and the ones that we have yet to commit. This alone is worth thanking Him for every day of our lives.  If you are honest with yourself, you will look back on your life and see all the blessings He has bestowed upon you and your family.

Some of you who read this, may be out of work or just struggling to survive in this economy, or may have troubles in your family, etc.  Remember! God is in charge and all He asks is that we turn all of our circumstances-good or bad-over to Him and He will take care of you.  He is a faithful, trustworthy God.  He keeps His word, even when we don't.

As said earlier, we should be thanking Him everyday we have breath!  So, please, make sure that you set aside this Thanksgiving Day for God and praise Him and thank Him for all you have.

If you do not know Jesus as your personal Saviour, there is no better time than right now!  Get on your knees and ask Him for forgiveness of your sins and invite Him into your heart. You have no chance at eternal life in Heaven if you do not do this. Jesus is the only way to be saved.

After you have done this, get yourself to a true Bible teaching church and talk to them about being baptized(immersed) for the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Start reading the Bible, I recommend John and Acts. God loves you, but He is a judging God and must punish you for your sins.  You see God cannot look on sin and He will condemn you to eternal life in Hell if you do not repent and ask for forgiveness from your heart.

May God bless you and yours.   Happy Thanksgiving!
